Band History

The Tucson High School steel band program, under the direction of Laszlo Veres, began with 10 players and 8 sets of steel drums in 1991. It was the first high school in the state of Arizona to have a steel drum band. Since these humble beginnings, the band has grown in size and stature not only under the direction of Laszlo Veres, but also under the direction of Khris Dodge who became the director of the band in 1999.
